In this training, students will obtain a framework of trauma. This includes a working definition to include the various types of trauma, how it manifests in our bodies, and how it impacts our physical and mental health. Students will be given relevant research and tools identifying the mind-body connection and how yoga, mindfulness, and breathing techniques impact the nervous system. Students will learn trauma aware cueing, sequencing, breathing strategies, and practice leading their own trauma, aware class. Upon completion of training students will have a greater awareness of self in and outside of the yoga teacher role. They will learn how to engage in their own self-care while assisting others on their journey through yoga. This module does include reading and coursework both in class and outside of class hours.
